Position Summary

Coordinate admissions to the Home by ensuring all documentation is completed in accordance with Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) legislation and Rideaucrest policies and procedures.

Perform initial interview with resident/representative in accordance with MOHLTC legislation and provide information of all charges and payments upon admission.

Prepares daily census and quarterly occupancy reports of resident activity and ensure resident information is always up to date (i.e. room changes, contacts etc).

Schedule annual and post-admission resident care conferences involving multiple stakeholders.

Conduct tours of the Home for prospective new residents and families.

Provide coverage for Receptionist as required.

Qualifications, Competencies

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent;

Graduate of a recognized post-secondary program in a related field (i.e. Office Administration);

Two years of related work experience in a long term care facility;

Demonstrated experience using computer software, specifically MicroSoft office applications, spreadsheets, databases and health care system(s);

In accordance with City of Kingston and Rideaucrest policies, annual influenza immunization and a valid Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) report are requirements of employment;

Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Demonstrated ability to interact with seniors in a caring and respectful manner;

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, tested at the basic level;

Experience with health care systems (i.e. Point Click Care) preferred;

Typing at 40 wpm (tested);

Able to work independently and as an effective team member with all members of staff, families, residents and outside agencies;

Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills, with ability to multi-task and adapt to constantly changing priorities;

Good working knowledge of the English language in written and verbal form;

Able to work in a fast-paced environment subject to interruptions, while maintaining attention to detail;

Ability to provide excellent customer service with a focus on continuous quality improvement;

Able to maintain confidentiality, ensuring ethical practices at all times;

Commitment to promoting and following safe work practices;

Able to maintain good physical condition to meet the essential physical demands of the role;

Commitment to ongoing learning and development;

Must be able to work all required shifts, including evenings and weekends as scheduled.
