Position Summary

Responsible for the administration of all aspects of the Committee of Adjustment ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and City policies and procedures;

Process and prepare reports respecting planning applications submitted to the Committee of Adjustment and any associated Planning Approvals or development agreements;

Advise individuals and organized bodies on planning matters;

Provide expert testimony at OMB hearings;

Represent the Planning & Development Department before Committees;

Direct the work of others in carrying out these duties and assist in general planning administration;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies

Degree in Planning or related field plus a minimum of 3-4 years of directly relevant experience in development approvals planning position processing various types of development applications;

Membership in or eligibility for full membership in OPPI required;

Extensive knowledge and experience with planning procedures and processes, the Planning Act and Provincial Policy Statement;

Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software required;

Must have and maintain a valid class ‘G’ driver’s licence and access to personal vehicle required;

Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Excellent oral and written communication skills with effective interpersonal skills;

Must be proficient in MS Office Software;

Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities and to present information and issues in a clear and concise manner;

Must possess superior customer service skills.
