Position Summary

Evaluate, diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs on propane, gasoline and diesel operated equipment for all City operations;

Maintain daily work order forms, time keeping functions, work independently and report daily repair work;

May be required to work out of various locations within the City;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent education;

Minimum five years experience as a licensed mechanic required;

Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license plus a valid Ontario 310T motor vehicle license 310S motor mechanic vehicle license is an asset;

Experience with a wide variety of diesel and gasoline operated equipment and vehicles is required;

Knowledge of safe work practices;

Experience with computerized maintenance program software is required;

Air conditioning and welding experience is considered as asset;

Must demonstrate the corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Oriented, Integrity and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Perform physically demanding work so a requirement to be physically fit to perform the duties of the position;

Interpret blueprints and technical manuals;

Close concentration, visual attention and manual dexterity;

Ability to work independently and in a team environment;

Effective communication skills both verbal and written;

Diagnostic skills required for a variety of different equipment including preventative maintenance programs beyond work requests and use of safe working practices at all times;

Shift work required.
