Position Summary

Greet customers and verify membership or payment;

Provide on-site supervision, fitness equipment orientations, equipment demonstrations, fitness facility tours, monitor participant safety (exercise and use of equipment), equipment monitoring/basic maintenance and open and/or close the center as required;

Provide information pertaining to fitness centre programs, memberships and clinics;

Promote fitness centre and programs to clients;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent education;

Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotions, Kinesiology, Health Studies or related discipline is considered an asset;

Must possess and maintain certification in Personal Training;

Minimum three months' experience in a fitness and/or personal training setting;

Valid First Aid and CPR certifications required;

Must demonstrate the corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Oriented, Integrity and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Must demonstrate knowledge, familiarity and experience with fitness equipment use and group exercise programs;

Ability to deal courteously and effectively with staff, program participants, and members of the general public;

Must demonstrate enthusiasm and the ability to be self-starter while working independently;

Physically fit in order to meet the physical demands of the position. Required to setup/move/lift fitness class/personal training equipment;

Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, holidays to accommodate fitness centre schedule;

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) is required, CLASS/Active software knowledge considered an asset;

Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CPIC (Criminal Record Check) at candidates own expense.
