Drive and operate, recycling, organic and garbage vehicles;
Collect, load and unload waste collected (recycling, organics and garbage);
Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment within your care and report any malfunctions to the Supervisor;
Work in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the Supervisor;
Work in the spirit of team participation;
Perform varied tasks and duties within the Solid Waste Division as required.
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent education;
Possess a valid DZ Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s abstract;
Knowledge and ability to operate all Solid Waste equipment in a safe and efficient manner;
Prior experience performing and operating Solid Waste equipment and duties preferred;
Must have good and reasonable understanding of all Solid Waste activities and routes;
Experience performing labour intensive duties in a safe manner;
Qualified candidates will be contacted and required to pass the associated written, pre-trip and driving tests in order to move onto the interview;
Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Good physical condition is necessary to perform the major strength and mobility demands of the position;
Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions;
Ability to operate equipment and machinery in a safe efficient manner;
Ability to interact with the public in a polite manner;
Must be willing to work all and/or any shifts as required.
