Responsible for the operation of recycling, organic and garbage vehicles in a highly safety conscious mannerDrive and operate, recycling, organic and garbage vehiclesCollect, load and unload, leaf, brush, garbage, organics and recyclablesCheck, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment and report any malfunctions to the SupervisorWork in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the SupervisorWork in the spirit of team participationPerform varied tasks and duties within the Solid Waste Division as required
**This position receives 4% in lieu of vacation + 13% in lieu of all benefits in addition to hourly rate of pay**High School (Grade 12) diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years experience driving and operating commercial vehicles and performing labour intensive dutiesPossess and maintain a valid DZ License, with a satisfactory driver’s abstract of no more than 3 demerit pointsPreference will be provided to those candidates with experience as a driver labourer in the waste collection industryQualified candidates will be contacted and required to pass the associated written and driving tests in order to move onto the interview. As a condition of employment, all new hires will be required to complete the pre-trip inspection training and pass the pre-trip inspection testing within 30 working days of starting positionMust demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
