**PLEASE NOTE THIS JOB POSTING IS TO GENERATE AN APPLICANT POOL FOR FUTURE REGULAR AND RELIEF SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD POSITIONS**The School Crossing Guard will assist and supervise school-age children with crossing roads in various locations of the municipality in a safe and professional manner.Remain aware of traffic situations;Display crossing sign and use caution while guiding children and families safely across roadways;Ensure the safety of children crossing streets and intersections;Maintain a pleasant, courteous and helpful attitude toward children, their guardians and the general public;Model and reinforce proper behaviour and adherence to safety rules;Report dangerous driving, crossing practices or issues to the appropriate authorities.
Experience working with children and/or adolescents; Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector;Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions while keeping in mind the safety of children; Good observation skills and the ability to interact with children and the general public in a positive manner; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, relaying information in a clear and concise manner with the ability to handle stressful situations; Must be available to work split shifts and be able to provide your own transportation;Able to perform the essential duties of the job including standing for long periods of time, outdoors and in all weather conditions.
